A master in his craft, his creations speak one class… World Class
Each one of Alain’s “canvases” is a timeless masterpiece that truly does speak a thousand words. Instead of painting with colours and brushes, Alain paints with light. The camera is his palette and the light his brush. His lens has captured some of the most desirable destinations and world renowned brands.
Alain is not only known for his excellence in his craft… But his benevolence. It’s his humble, charming French nature that makes him the preferred choice to high net-worth clientelle and individuals with discerning taste.
He is amongst a rare breed of photographers who have bridged the worlds most impressive residential and commercial, rare and iconic real estate developments.
What sets Alain Proust apart from the rest is his exceptional attention to detail, his meticulous execution and his endless imagination.
An industry success story with over 50 years of local and international experience, Alain’s camera skills are simply in a class of their own.
On a global stage, he captures moments that others may think are impossible.
Having experienced unimaginable adventures in some of the worlds finest countries, Alain’s lens has witnessed vibrant cultures, challenging situations, fascinating people and desirable destinations.
These encounters have given him a unique perspective on life which in turn brings depth and richness to every project he undertakes – be it historical buildings, landscapes, nature, hotels or multi-million dollar ocean-front properties and developments.
Portraying the best the world has to offer in architectural photography in some the most desirable destinations, such as: Orient Express Hotels worldwide, Richard Branson’s, Necker Island, Royal Livingstone in Victoria Falls as well as many exclusive lodges all over the Okavango and in the Sabi Sands including Londolozi, Sabi Sabi & Ulusaba.
On the local front he’s shot The Taj Hotel in Cape Town, Labotessa Boutique Hotel, The Coral Hotel, Ellerman House and Moondance Villa.
The photographic legacy of Alain Proust continues…
Born in France and now residing in Cape Town it is of no surprise that the Wine and Food Industries are perhaps Alain’s greatest love. So it goes without saying that he counterbalances his location work with technical studio photography, including packaging and liquid in motion photography… challenging but satisfying. With a relentless pursuit of absolute excellence, he has developed his own personalised model of lighting bottles.
His food photography in a class of its own, he has collaborated with some of the finest international Chefs to produce award winning recipe books.
He is also the photographic author of numerous publications including: Panoramic South Africa, Hidden Cape Town, Hidden Johannesburg, South African Artists at Home, Colonial Houses of South Africa, A Portrait of Cape Town, Cape Dutch Houses & Other Old Favourites: Proud Heritage of the Southwestern Cape, Mauritius: A Visual Souvenier and many more…
Alain’s limited words when asked what has been his best project so far… He humbly replies “The next one”
